Apteryx mantelli – North Island Brown Kiwi
The population of kiwis on Kapiti Island might be a hybrid of these two species (Herbert & Daugherty, 2002). This cross is also listed in the Handbook of Avian Hybrids of the World, but only a website is provided as source.

Apteryx owenii – Little Spotted Kiwi
A bird from the Franz Josef township was a hybrid between Little Spotted Kiwi (A. owenii) and Southern Brown Kiwi (Herbert & Daugherty, 2002). This cross is also listed in the Handbook of Avian Hybrids of the World, but only a website is provided as source.
